A day trip to visit college friends. A family of three, they have an adorable son who is four and a half. He proudly shows off his room, his Star Wars washcloth and his running ability ("Wanna see how fast I can run?"). He blushes when he describes his best friend Emma, who he wants to marry someday. He grimaces when he describes his other best friend, "who always wants me to play what he wants to play". At lunch, he doesn't eat his hot dog but delights in his cup of sprite. Twice at the playground he hesitates at the top of the ladder, calling out in a small voice, "I'm scared". Oh to be so open and innocent!
At each intersection he holds my hand.
So lucky to share in a day in the life of this little guy.
How refreshing to see the world from a child's point-of-view for a few hours.
