Bright Chilly Day

Today is a windy, sunny, cold Saturday.

On our walk we wear silly knit hats and snuggly jackets.

No surfers today. The tractors are parked, no volunteers to clean the beach.

We see a kite sailor practicing on the sand. The gusts of wind lift him like an acrobat or a frog off the ground.

The baby has pink cheeks. His sneakers and sweatpant cuffs are wet from splashing in puddles.

When we arrive at home, we peel away our outside gear, raid the kitchen for snacks and climb into the reading chair in his room.

After a few books shared, he naps in his crib and I nap in my bed; restful peaceful warm naps after our chilly bright morning.
