Fathers and Sons

Sometimes it is hard to tell the difference between the fathers and sons.

Who cheers the loudest to celebrate a goal?

Who groans and boos when defeated?

A driveway hockey game is non-stop action with adults and children mixing it up for the puck.

Tears. Shouts. Laughs.

Game over! Sticks hit the ground.

In a line they tramp through the house.

3 daddies. 4 sons.

Sweaty and smiling.

They gulp water and gobble ice cream.

No thoughts of taking a break or stopping for lunch.

Out of the sweaty clothes and into swim trunks.

Four line one side of the pool. Three line the other.

Big hands clasp little hands.

 1-2-3 Cannonball!

Again and again and again.

The sun pushes the afternoon away..

Water fights, football, snorkeling...

Stretching the day.

Until Mom says it's time for dinner and pjs. Time for dear friends to go home.

Daddy and son pairs grabbing gear and clothes and towels.

Making plans to play another day.

Saying goodbye to a last day of summer....

Between the smiles and sighs,

It is hard to tell the difference between fathers and sons.
