In the Nantucket house, Jesse sits in an amazingly grand high chair that we found at the dump.
His legs are pulled up with his feet resting against the bar and knees by his arm. He looks like a monkey.
It is the end of a glorious happy vacation day.
The three grown ups are laughing, talking and making dinner.
Oscar mingles between us, telling stories, asking questions and playing.
Jesse is eating a peach.
He loves peaches. Lingers over them. He will hold onto a half-eaten peach for ages.
Walk into a grocery store and he will point and squeal at the produce section until you find him a sweet fuzzy peach.
It's never pretty when I have to hand over the half eaten peach to the cashier to be weighed;)
Tonight the peach is gone.
In his little fist is the pit.
"You ate the whole peach!"
And we all dance and sing "Nugget the nug" to celebrate this milestone.
We are giddy, feeling a vacation high and he stares at us and smiles.
Sweet sweet moment. Funny the things that stay with me....
